Touristy Paris

Hop-On-Hop-Off Tour, Paris, France

This photo is from the time before my new camera. In fact I used to take all my photos with phone. I don’t know how that worked out but no one has been complaining too much about the quality of my blog’s photos… Even if it’s old photo I wanted to share it. Why? I have no idea. I just find Paris so beautiful even if there is too much tourists everywhere.

I dreamed of Japan…

torii

Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kyoto, Japan

Last night I dreamed of Japan. I was walking on the narrow streets of Tokyo, getting lost between the torii gates of Fushimi Inari and ate sushi in that small restaurant of Osaka. It felt I was truly back there and when I woke up my heart was aching. It has been two years but Japan has never left my heart. I have tried to get this feeling while visiting other countries and countless cities around the world but it never works. There was something different in the way Japan made me feel. It was like finding a lost home.

We have been talking about going to Japan with my mom so the hollow feelings and dreams full of memories must be because of that. Japan is drawing me to come back. Two years feels like forever. If I close my eyes, I can almost imagine me back there. I was totally alone and still so full of life. My travel romance was with this country and its culture, not just with some random dude from my hostel. I miss Japan like I miss Finland when I am traveling far away from my home country.

That Obligatory Airplane Photo

Travel Photo Blog

Somewhere above Italy or Rome

I have mixed relationship with flying. I am scared to death of it (and I blame that on air crash investigation programs…) but at the same time I don’t love anything as much as sitting in airplane knowing that soon you will land on some new exciting destination. You can just sit and wait for that new place, new adventure and new life that will be ahead of you. There is nothing else to do that to put on your headphones, listen to some music and dream endlessly of better life…

Finding Summer from Bremen

bremen_river

Bremen, Germany

After you try to enjoy the Finnish spring knowing that there may never be warm summer visiting city full of green leaves and over 20 degrees warmth is like finding paradise. My visit to Bremen was full of sunshine and walking around with only t-shirt. There is no feeling like enjoying summer after too long and cold winter! If you don believe me, life a few years in Finland.

Map to your mind

rome_streetart

MACRO Testaccio, Rome, Italy

I was on interesting tour when we come across this graffiti. Even my tour guide hadn’t seen it before so it took a while from us to realize the meaning behind this map. It looks like Rome’s map but all the places and street names are changed to something else. It is meant to be your life’s map. You start from the red arrow and then walk the streets that make your own life path. Cool idea and definitely nice change to see in Rome that sometimes felt too ancient for my taste.

My New Travel Motto

bremen_graffiti

Bremen, Germany

If there is street art, I will find it. That should be my motto. I am exceptionally good at finding street art  and graffiti where ever I decide to travel. Maybe it is because all these small alleys and side streets attract me towards them. If I see interesting and a little suspicious street, I just can’t skip walking there. It’s not good habit as solo female traveler but no one is going to stop me…

When art lover travels

tokyo

Small Museum in Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan

Museums are my expensive guilty pleasure while traveling. I would save a lot of money if I just skipped them altogether. But I can’t. Most of my friends don’t understand my fascination with museums. They are just houses full of paintings. But during my life I have learned that museums are a lot more. Look at the photo above. Isn’t room full of those colorful paintings, a few colorful statues and amazing view from window to outside world worth of paying a few euros? For me it is, for some people it isn’t.
